The recent Supreme Court ruling is not only a setback for the rights of Trans people, it is a serious blow to the wider movement for equality, dignity, and justice for the entire LGBTQIA+ community.
Trans people, like all people, deserve respect, safety, and full protection under the law. This judgment sends a deeply troubling message: that some individuals’ rights and identities can be debated, diminished, or denied. That is unacceptable.
No one should have to live in fear that their identity could be weaponised against them, in a court of law, at work, when accessing healthcare, or simply existing in public life.
This ruling does not exist in isolation. It risks legitimising discrimination, emboldening those who seek to undermine LGBTQIA+ rights, and making an already marginalised population even more vulnerable.
As trustees of Pride in Chippenham, we stand in full and unwavering solidarity with our Trans siblings and all members of the LGBTQIA+ community. We will continue to celebrate diversity and inclusion in our town, and to fight for policies and protections that uphold the dignity of every person, regardless of gender identity or sexual orientation.
In the face of injustice, our commitment to our community will only grow stronger. Pride is protest, but it is also love. And we will never stop fighting for a world where everyone can live freely, openly, and safely.
Pride in Chippenham exists to celebrate, support, and uplift the LGBTQIA+ community in Chippenham and the wider Wiltshire community.

Meet Our Commitee
Pride in Chippenham established in February 2025 after the last committee closed down. It was looking like Pride wouldn’t be staying in Chippenham and we couldn’t let that happen. We are a small but might team aiming to keep Pride alive. The first Pride took place in 2023 and the last committee did a brilliant job at delivering 2 excellent Pride’s, we hope to continue that legacy.
